Under "About the author", Michael Holmes writes:
Huddled around a campfire in 2009 at one of Tasmania’s iconic ghost towns-Adamsfield west of Maydena, temperature about -4C, snow falling, pitch black, began to wonder why and how people particularly women and children endured such hardships.
Adamsfield summoned up the memory of my cousin John O'Reilly's research into the life of his father, Mulga Mick O'Reilly, miner, wanderer, author of Bowyangs and Boomerangs.
There are some wonderful photos on the Facebook page, a beauty of Lefroy and another of this unidentified but substantial building somewhere in Northeast Tasmania.
Then I found an ABC article about Michael Holmes on which is a photo of miners at Lisle : Collins, Collins, Foon and Dickensen.
Michael's research brought to mind our Nigel Burch's books Ephemeral Lisle : The Town That Disappeared and then his recent The Piper's Call which has so much about the now vanished slate town of Bangor.
