LILYDALE The annual fair in aid of the Lilydale Presbyterian Church was held on Wednesday last. The gaily decorated hall and well-laden stalls presented a pleasing appearance. The opening ceremony, at 3 o'clock, was performed by the Warden (Mr. L. A. Procter).
There was a good attendance, and brisk trade was carried on during the afternoon. Stallholders were as follow:-Drapery--Mrs. Power and Miss Erb. Sunday school and P.G.A.- Mesdames L. A. Proctor and E. E. Bennett. Cakes--Mesdames R. O. Russen and Robert Brooks. Sweets -- Misses Maggie Power, Nancy Procter, and Phll Kerkham. Flowers-Misses R. A. Evans, and Shirley Gardam. Fish-pond-Misses Gwen Bardenhagen and Jessie Downie. Refreshments Mesdames G. Brown, J. H. Wilson, C. Shepherd, and H. Wilson; also Misses Gladys Ferguson, Ivy Ferguson, and Merle Bardenhagen. Produce-Miss L. Wilson.
A concert was held in the evening, with Rev. W. L. Baker as chairman. Items were given by the following:- Mesdames Power, H. L. Bardenhagen; and Robert Brooks; Misses Maggie Power, Phil Kerkham and E. Brooks; Messrs. R D. Russen; E. L. Kerkham, T. Pitchford, and Rev. Brenton.
At the conclusion of the programme there was a sale of gifts, in charge of Messrs. H. Wilson and A. Arnold, and with Mr. R. O. Russen as auctioneer.
The gifts were disposed of in a very brisk and capable manner, and the total proceeds for the day reached the satisfactory figure of £35. A vote of thanks was passed by the chairman to all who had helped so willingly both afternoon and evening with the fair and concert. LILYDALE (1929, June 17).
