Hi Phil,
Thanks for the offer!
I'm writing about the settlement of Underwood, Karoola, Turner's Marsh and Bangor. My cutoff date is 1890, so I'm interested in people before that - info and photos. However photos of the district up to about 1950 are of interest and can cast light on what was there in terms of buildings and services earlier, and exactly where they were on the ground. There are very few photos of these areas predating 1950. The shops, hotels, churches and schools for example. Most people our age from the Lilydale area can remember the Anglican church, school, Post Office, shop and Memorial Hall at Underwood, for example, but no-one seems to have ever taken a photo! All I can find is the Methodist Church. It's a similar situation with Bangor, Karoola and Turner's Marsh. Many of the old families are still in these districts, but do they have photos and stories of the first settlers? All I have found so far is the diary of Emily Atherton of Bangor 1880. It is wonderful! Are there others??
All the best,
Nigel
