NORTH LILYDALE 19 October 1922
A successful concert and dance arranged by Miss Mayne, in aid of local school funds, was held in the North Lilydale Hall on Friday night last. The hall was kindly loaned for the occasion by Mr H. Mahnken. Mr L. Procter, of Lilydale, occupied the chair.
The programme of songs and recitations was given by the school children, those taking part being Misses Franklin, Millar, Farrelly, and Masters McConnon, Franklin, and Shepherd. Local talent also kindly assisted including Mesdames Mahnken and Lowe, Misses Wilson, O. and N. Millar, and Messrs. Lowe. and N. Brown.
At the conclusion of the programme, Mr Procter on behalf of Miss Mayne, kindly thanked all those who had assisted in making the concert such a pronounced success. He also thanked those who had come such long distances to be present, many being from Golconda, Karoola, Underwood, and Lilydale. He urged parents to take an interest in the school, and to stand by their teacher who was taking such trouble to help them along.
Supper was served, which was provided by the parents. The hall was then cleared for dancing, which went on merrily until the early morning. Mr A. Miller carried out the duties of M.C. in an efficient manner. Music was supplied by Messrs. G. Brown, J. Mahnken, Millar, and Blythe. The proceeds of the concert were considered very satisfactory.
