Harvest Festival celebrations in connection with the Methodist Church were held on Sunday, when addresses suitable to the occasion were delivered by Rev. C. E. R. Benjafield to good congregations. The church was prettily decorated with fruits, etc.
On Monday night a good number gathered in the Druids' Hall, when a musical programme was gone through. Miss Daisy Emms, of Launceston, gave several numbers, and had to submit to several recalls. Mrs Power, and Misses Ride and Arnold, Rev. Benjafield, and Master Alf Kirkham also assisted with the programme, after which a sale of gifts was proceeded with, and a clean sweep was made at satisfactory prices. The total proceeds of the celebrations which are to be devoted to the circuit funds amount to £11 odd.
Mr William Mundy met with a nasty accident on Wednesday morning. He was engaged making alterations to the premises of Messrs E. H. Mitchell and Co., and whilst on the verandah it suddenly collapsed, and Mr Munday fell a distance of about 10 feet, falling on his left shoulder. The fall stunned him for a few minutes, but subsequently he rallied sufficiently to walk, and was then motored into the General Hospital for treatment, and his any friends are hoping that his injuries may not be of a serious nature. The greatest sympathy is felt for him in his misfortune. He had only recently started work after several weeks' enforced idleness through ill-health.
