NEWS FROM COUNTRY DISTRICTS LILYDALE SPECIAL harvest services at the Methodist Church were conducted by Messrs. H. K. Bye and S. T. Lucas. At the evening service solos were sung by Mrs. R. Cameron, Hobart, and Mrs. R. L. Bardenhagen.
The following evening a concert programme was given by Mr. P. Simmonds and party from Launceston. Those taking part were Misses M. and G. Simmonds, Mr. and Mrs. Warden, Messrs. P. Simmonds and S. Roberts. The accompanist was Miss L. Lamerton. Mr. S. Roberts was auctioneer. Supper was provided by the women's committee. The total takings for the two days were £18/5/7.Mr. and Mrs. R. Cameron, Hobart, are spending a few days with Miss Bardenhagen and Mrs. A. Power, Lilydale. Sister Kathleen Wilson has returned from Melbourne. Miss D. Wilson, Melbourne, is visiting her sister, Mrs. W. Wilson, Lilydale.
A SURPRISE house warming party took place at the new home of the bush nurse at Lilydale on Tuesday evening. Sister M. Walsh took up residence in the new dwelling three weeks ago. A happy evening was spent with games and competitions, followed by supper.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. V. McCarthy. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Kelp, Misses M. Spotswood, P. Hales, C. Charlesworth, D. Bardenhagen, M. Walsh, E. Cameron, Messrs. A. Cameron, J. and H. Bardenhagen, J. Finan, L. Woodland, T. McKenna, M. and T. Dolbey and M. Mitchell. Mr. M. Dolbey made a presentation to Sister Walsh, who responded.
