LILY LODGE, U.A.O.D.The Lily Lodge, No. 52, U.A.O.D., celebrated its second anniversary in their hall, at Lilydale on Wednesday night, the net proceeds of which are to be forwarded to the Tasmania Consumptive Sanatorium Fund. The Grand Treasurer, Bro. C. K. Ellis, occupied the chair and explained the objects of the gathering, and hoped that a substantial sum would as the results of the efforts of the lodge be forwarded to the institution. Musical and elocutionary items were given by Mesdames Blakney and S. J. Arnold, Misses Flood, Whitties, and Skeggs, and Messrs. R. A. Fitzgerald, L. Procter, G. Bird, and E. H. Mitchell, after which a public installation of the officers of the lodge for the ensuing term was conducted by Grand Trustee Bro. J. H. Fraser as installing officer, assisted by Grand Secretary Bro. Shields, and as master of ceremonies and branch president Bro. Procter.
The following were installed to the various offices: Arch Druid, Bro. A.. Miller; Vice Arch, Bro. T. P. Welch; Inside Guardian, Bro. J. B. Manzoney, Outside Guardian, Bro. G. Bird; Bards, Bros.E. Turner, C. P. Poole, F, Poole, J. Fox; Treasurer, Bro. A. Dolbey ; Secretary, Bro. E. H. Mitchell.
The ceremony was followed with great interest by the audience, the various officers, led by the Arch Druid, briefly returned thanks. Branch President Procter referred to the proposal of the lodge to inaugurate a young men's club in connection with the lodge, and this was greeted with applause, it being generally admitted that it will supply a long felt need.
After the singing of the National Anthem dancing was engaged in until about 2 a.m. Bro. A. Miller was. master of ceremonies, Bros. J. Hudson and Fitzgerald supplying the music. Mesdames.
