Prior to the family's arrival Angus cleared some of the land and built on what afterwards became the homestead (Breadalbane). He also assisted in surveying and clearing Hall's Track. Later he was amongst the early carters of tin from Mount Cameron to the Ringarooma port. From there he went to New South Wales and Queensland. In Queensland he was manager of the Durham Downs station on Cooper's Creek.
Returning to Tasmania 28 years ago he lived at his old home until thirteen years ago. Owing to ill health he then went to live with his sister (Mrs. C. E. Brewer, of "Elsinore," Lilydale), who died two years ago. A large and representative gathering followed the remains to the Lilydale Cemetery.

NOTE: Mrs Charles Brewer nee Joanna Mary Campbell. Charles Edward Brewer came from the family that owned Bowood estate close to Bridport. Joanna died in 1924 and Charles, J.P. and Cemetery Trustee, in 1926. Their unmarried daughter Maggie lived on at Elsinore on "Brewer's Hill". Council Clerk Bill Wilson wrote of her in his 1959 History of Underwood: "Miss Brewer, now in her 83rd year, will, as the oldest resident, unveil a plaque to commemorate the centenary of the settlement of Underwood on the 14th February, 1959. She has a wide and clear knowledge of the early days of the Underwood district and she still lives in the house in which she was born. One of her brothers, William Brewer, was the first man in the Lilydale Municipality to enlist for service in the South African War. He has resided in New Zealand for many years and still leads a very active life and is regularly engaged in driving cattle, although in his 87th year." There were two other brothers, Hedley and George. Sadly, after serving in the Boer War, 32 year old George died in a gun accident in New Zealand as depicted in the Examiner 11 Sept 1906 .
