March 1930
LILYDALE . The harvest thanksgiving services in connection with the Lilydale Anglican Church, were held on Sunday. There were services at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., and 7.30 p.m. The rector (Rev. M. J. Stephens) officiated at all the services, and there were large congregations at the 11 o'clock and 7.30 services. There was a splendid collection of fruit, vegetables, and flowers, which were nicely arranged and gave the church a bright and attractive appearance.
The harvest hymns were heartily sung, and the rector made earnest appeals for more definite and frequent acknowledgments of God's goodness in giving abundant returns for the cultivation and care of the fruits and crops of the orchards and fields. The offerings were disposed of by auction on Tuesday evening, when there was a good gathering.
