India as a Market.— Mr Orr drew attention to Mr Fincham's paper on "India as a market for Tasmanian produce" em bodied in the Eyandale report of December 3, which was read by the secretary and caused a somewhat animated discussion.
Mr Orr -moved--"That inasmuch as the Council of Agriculture is always alive to the best interests of the colony it will no doubt have Mr Fincham's information contained in his paper on India under consideration at their next meeting; therefore this board urges upon them the important necessity of taking the subject up without delay, and not in a half-hearted or languid manner, but with a view to secure success." In conclusion Mr Orr said that by throwing all their energy and enthusiasm into the subject they would gain the sympathy and support of all well-wishers of the colony. Moved by Mr W. J. Arnold, and seconded by Mr T. Phillips-- "That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded Mr Fincham for his valuable and interesting report."-- Carried unanimously.
Maize as Greenstuff.— Mr F. Proctor exhibited a fine sample of Indian corn or maize, which was grown by Mr Jas. Wilson, and recommended by the latter gentleman as excellent fodder for milch cows.
