Betty Viney 6 April 2018 1st prize for Fancy work cushion in 1918 Show awarded to Private Albert Ernest Walker, 49th battalion who sent this embroidered cushion home to his fiancé Alice Arnold. Sadly he died in France on 1st September 1918. The cushion is treasured now by Alice's niece Val VanAsch. Her daughter Sandra Jensen supplied images of the pillow as it is today, framed. Fb permalink

Julie Livingston May 28, 2017 Query: petrol/service station perhaps where Pat Griffin used to live in the main street, where his grandson Shaun now lives. Samuel James(Jim) Arnold lived in the house next door and had a large workshop between that and Shaun's house. He became a car salesman and eventually moved to town working for Motors- sold many people in the district their first car. Walter(Lert) Arnold then bought the house 1930s. Maybe a petrol bowser.
